  • The 3rd Alternative Survey: Most Serious Challenge
FranklinCovey conducted a global survey of thousands of participants in the company's public training programs or those connecting with the company via Facebook, Twitter, and the Stephen R. Covey online community.  We asked people to tell us the most serious challenges facing them in the world, in their countries, in their cities, in their organizations, and in their personal lives. Over 7800 people responded.  The survey was intended to be a representative sample; rather it is best viewed as "feedback."

  • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Key to High-Performance Organizations
Organizations that thrive and grow are the ones that live by the basic principles of high performance: high focus on mission and values along with superb execution.  However, no company can truly succeed until individuals within it succeed.  The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People workshop is about making people effective so that they can make their organizations effective.  The impact of The 7 Habits has been shown in a study of 46 organizations in which the return on investment averaged 173 percent.  In another study of 15 organizations, the focus on organizational policies improved, interpersonal relationships were strengthened, and teamwork improved.  The 7 Habits have also improved business results of a large health care firm in the Western United States.  The FranklinCovey intervention helped bring about a breakthrough that helped reduce processing costs by two-thirds through improved communication.  Managers in the organization were also rated more highly in their reports. There are several issues facing organizations today that The 7 Habits are effective in dealing with.  Several examples of these issues, as well as the principles used to address them and the benefits thereof, are outlined for each habit.

  • The Execution Quotient: The Measure of What Matters
The main thing for companies to do to be successful is to increase their ability to focus and to close the execution gap. FranklinCovey has developed a survey called the Execution Quotient, or xQ, to see how well companies are doing in execution.  The drivers of execution are divided into two categories: focus and synergy.  Studies find that, according to the measure, many of the employees in organizations cannot translate goals into action or perform with discipline. Organizations do not work together effectively in achieving their most important goals. The findings clearly indicate that organizations lack core focus, that they do not synergize well, and the result is a failure to execute.

  • The Leader in Me at Fremont Elementary School
Despite its location in an ethnically diverse, low-income community, Fremont Elementary School came in number one in its district (out of 70 schools) on several measures evaluated by a federal team of "auditors."  Students were found to start working more quickly, stay on task longer, and more quickly find meaninful things to do after assignments were completed than students in other schools in the district.  The evaluation team credited The Leader in Me and the 7 Habits for many of these results.  Disciplinary referrals were found to be down 60%,while reading, math, and science scores were well ahead of recent years.
